shinyjenni: Abby and Emily from Primeval, armed and in cocktail dresses; text reads "it is defended" (it is defended)
So I made an icon last night (yes, one whole icon) and I thought "hey, maybe I have enough of these lying around on my hard drive to make an icon post". And as it turns out, I did, so here is a mixed bag of icons that I have made and don't entirely hate.

Fandoms:
Doctor Who (14: 5 Classic, 1 Big Finish, 8 Eleven-era)
Buffy (3)
Legend of the Seeker (4)
Leverage (3)
Huge (2)
Primeval (1)
Press Gang (1)
The Avengers (1)

shinyjenni: Amy, River, Eleven and Rory from Doctor Who; text reads "intellect and romance" (team tardis season 31 style)
Just finished one of the new Doctor Who books, "The Glamour Chase". I read it on [livejournal.com profile] neadods's recommendation and she was right, it is really great. I'm not entirely sure that the plot quite worked in the end, and there was one really weird page on masculine-looking women that made me go :/, but other than those two caveats I loved it tremendously (I started it at about 10.30 yesterday evening and finished it at lunchtime today). It had a very interesting and likeable race of aliens, and the characterisation was incredibly lovely: Amy doesn't get as much page time as the others, but is really good in the bits she does have, and I sat there grinning through all the scenes with the Doctor and Rory, not to mention the bits with Rory on his own. ♥

Martha! ♥ It is important that I have icons of her, and I love the look of wonder on her face in this one. The text is from Paradise Lost, but there is no deep meaning to my choosing it, I just liked it.

I have loved Bashir for many many years, and "Our Man Bashir" is one of my favourite DS9 episodes, not least because it takes not one but two Trek plot clichés (transporter malfunction and holodeck shenanigans) and turns them into a fantastic episode. Also this icon lets me pretend that Alexander Siddig got to be Bond, because that would be fantastic. (I would also like him to play the Doctor at some point, plzkthnx.)

Photobucket

DAYNA! She is from Blake's 7 and she is fantastic. She shoots people with arrows! SPACE ARROWS. My keywords for this icon read "dayna is more awesome than you" and although I think you are all great, I'm afraid this is probably true. Unless it is an episode where the writer has forgotten what Dayna is like, which sadly happens from time to time.

There is nothing about this icon that I do not love. Eight! Hugging a Dalek! (Because if any Doctor were to hug a Dalek, it would absolutely be Eight.) The happy expression on his face!

Photobucket

Worrals! I love her so. This isn't quite how I picture her in my head, but I quite like it anyway.

shinyjenni: Fourth Doctor and Leela coming out of the TARDIS; background text reads: "excitement adventure really wild things" (really wild things)
My good intentions for the weekend seem to have gone by the wayside already, oh dear. I was going to go to bed at A Reasonable Hour last night so I could get up not too ridiculously late today and then do lots of work, but then I watched A Single Man and the ending made me very bad tempered, so after I'd posted [livejournal.com profile] trek_news and [livejournal.com profile] who_daily I thought I would do some soothing icon making, since I'd signed up for [community profile] fandom20in20 and all. And then I sort of got into this icon making groove and, well...

- I have not seen "The Lodger" yet due to Technical Difficulties - [livejournal.com profile] agapi42 and I were intending to go to an outdoor screening of it, but when we got there their box was broken so no Doctor Who for us. Instead we met up with my friend Rhiannon (who was also intending to watch Doctor Who but had been slightly delayed when she stumbled across an unconscious man with a nosebleed lying on the pavement), went for a nice meal and then caught the second half of Bridget Jones's Diary, so it was nevertheless a good evening.

- Am just really behind on telly stuffs in general, due to SUNSHINE. I haven't seen this week's [livejournal.com profile] b7rewatch episode yet, though we are now onto ones that I haven't seen before. I did watch last week's episode, "Moloch", last night, and, er, less said about that the better, I think, though I did enjoy Vila and Servalan bickering. Also, I want to watch more Legend of the Seeker, and next up on my Doctor Who watch is "City of Death", and Rhiannon lent me season three of The West Wing and I should really finish that and return it, and I am halfway through the second season of The Wire, and and and... What I really need is more hours in the day. Could someone arrange that for me please? Thanks.

- My love for Radio 4 is well documented, but I also feel the need to proclaim my love for Radio 7, which is also great. At the moment I am listening to: the early seasons of Old Harry's Game, which I missed first time round; lots of Dorothy L. Sayers (Gaudy Night starts on Friday!); season three of the New Eighth Doctor Adventures ("The Scapegoat" is up next, and so far I think this season has been excellent.). They are also broadcasting repeats of a lot of old children's programmes that aired on Radio 4 in the early nineties, which is causing a lot of JOYFUL FLAILING in people who are me. This week it is Time Hops, which I am very excited to relisten to, as I liked it so much the first time round. (The subject line is a quote from same which has stuck in my brain for about a decade.) It has a mouse scientist from the future, a killer bunny rabbit ditto, the Great Fire of London ("We did this in primary school! This isn't any old fire, it's the Great Fire of London!" Just think what else I could've stored in that bit of brainspace) and more time travel shenanigans than you can shake a stick at.

A couple of things I made for [community profile] three_weeks_for_dw; it's been three weeks since I posted them, so I can link them here now! Anon/Open ID commenting should be enabled on both, unless I have messed something up (entirely possible).

1) Leverage ensemble mood theme! (The one I've been using on this journal recently.)

2) Fifteen Whoniverse icons, all eras. A few Amy/River, some other people. Teasers:

- I got sucked into wikipedia this morning and on my travels I discovered that in 2000 the BBC made a version of Lady Audley's Secret, a Victorian sensation novel of which I am rather fond, with Jamie Bamber as George and Steven Mackintosh (who was Rokesmith in Our Mutual Friend with Paul McGann, and was also apparently in Timelash: this isn't even one degree of Doctor Who any more, is it?) as Robert. I really want to see this, but it was only ever released on video, so it looks like I'll have to trawl charity shops for it. Also, from IMDB it looks like they've cut the subplot where minor spoilers for a book published 147 years ago )

- Someone nominated one of my fics for the [livejournal.com profile] smith_awards! Thank you, mysterious anon-type person, you made my day. The awards are based on reviews rather than votes (a positive review is +1, a negative review is -1) so I shall be interested to see what people have to say.
