shinyjenni: The Eleventh Doctor lying on the ground (eleventy)
- Two Christmas cards arrived for me on Saturday! (One of them was from [livejournal.com profile] cosmic_celery - thank you!)

- Also on Saturday, I went to see Richard II at the Tobacco Factory, which was excellent, as the Shakespeare at the Tobacco Factory season always is.

- [personal profile] paranoidangel has already posted lots of excellent photos of the exhibition part of the Doctor Who Experience, so I will just post a few of the ones that I took:

under this here cut )

- Book meme, from all over the place:

The book I am reading: I've just started reading Inkheart, though by "just started" I mean I have read one page. I'm also reading Managing Change for Library Support Staff, for an essay that I am absolutely going to start writing any day now. And I have nearly finished Birds of Prey: Of Like Minds, having decided recently to work my way through all the Birds of Prey books that my library has. So far this has proved to be an excellent decision.

The book I am writing: None at present.

The book I love most: YOU CANNOT MAKE ME CHOOSE JUST ONE. But if you did, it would probably be The Once and Future King, which is a slight cheat as it is sort of also four books.

The last book I received as a gift: The last two books I got for Christmas were Coronets and Steel by Sherwood Smith and Enchanted Glass by Diana Wynne Jones. Haven't read either of them yet, though, since they had to go to the bottom of the book pile. That is the rule.

The last book I gave as a gift: I bought The Sister The Rough Guide to Southeast Asia on a Budget for Christmas, don't think I've given anyone any books since then.

The nearest book on my desk table: There are piles of library books on my table; I think the closest is the Every Child Matters report, which is sticking out of the bottom of the "books for uni" pile.
shinyjenni: Clyde Langer grinning (clydely joy)
Today is More Joy Day! And here therefore is a picspam, since I am constitutionally incapable of ignoring an opportunity to post one. For any picture without commentary, just assume TINY HEARTS.

a picspam of JOY. And Doctor Who. )

Last week the BBC photoblog did a feature on photos of press photographers, and right at the bottom was this lovely one of Lalla Ward that I'd never seen before:

I couldn't find the forward facing version, but based on her hairstyle and scarf-wearing, I think it might be from the same shoot as the one where she's sitting on K9, which I can't link to at the moment as that bit of Tragical is down. Anyway, as I was saving this I found a folder on my computer marked "awesome who pictures", which clearly is a sign that I should do a PAN-WHONIVERSE PICSPAM, yes? (I don't have sources for any of the said pictures, but it's a fairly safe bet that most of them came from the Tragical History Tour and/or The Many Picspams of [livejournal.com profile] who_anon.)

shinyjenni: Sylvester McCoy, Sophie Aldred and Philip Olivier; text reads: "big finish" (big finish are love)
Den of Geek have done a piece on the top ten sexiest men of Doctor Who. It strikes me as a slightly eccentric list, but I suppose that is par for the course given that a) sexiness is not really something that can be measured objectively and b) there are a lot of men to choose from in Doctor Who. Anyway, I am glad of it, because it gives me an opportunity to rectify their omissions through the medium of picspam. Some of these pictures were a bit big, so I shrunk them - click on them to get the full size versions.

Sources: Tragical History Tour, Hot Daily, [livejournal.com profile] dw_daily, some of [livejournal.com profile] who_anon's many picspams and a couple of my own caps.

Since picspams seem to be the order of the day, here be a picspam of twenty random things I love about Classic Who. All pics from the Tragical History Tour, some of them I have coloured a bit, cos I like doing that.

There are so many more things I love, but that took me ages so now I am going to go and watch part two of Galaxy Four.

Picspam!

I've been a bit grumpy, on and off, for the last few weeks, so I've been even lurkier and less comment-y than usual. As an apology, here is a picspam of Doctor Who people! (Pics nicked from sources all over the place including but not limited to the Tragical History Tour, the Big Finish Facebook Group, [livejournal.com profile] dw_daily and hot_daily on Journalfen. I had to shrink a few pictures as they were messing up my layout; click on 'em for the full size version!)

shinyjenni: The Second Doctor and Zoe, smiling (two zoe)
I was watching Adam Adamant Lives! tonight when I spotted a familiar face. "Good Lord," said I, "it's Patrick Troughton!" And so it was. He was only in one scene right at the beginning, but it was a good scene.
Here are some screencaps )

Also in this episode were Michael Sheard, Iain Cuthbertson (who was in The Ribos Operation) and, according to IMDB, at least seventeen other people who've also been in Doctor Who at some point. British TV: very incestuous or QUITE RIDICULOUSLY incestuous?
